11 family members among those dead in River Enziu tragedy

15 other family members who were in the ill-fated bus were lucky to have survived the journey to a wedding that has now turned into grief
Rodgers Muli and his uncle walk around Enziu river still in shock. The duo were among people who were in the overloaded ill-fated St. Joseph Seminary Mwingi bus that plunged into the Enziu river claiming over 30 lives.
According to Muli, 26 people among those who were in the ill-fated bus were members of his family who were on their way to attend his grandfather David Muli’s wedding ceremony.
“Number kubwa ni familia, familia walikufa sana mauntie zangu, number ya family wale walikufa ni kama 10 … Tulikuwa tunangoja mwili ya mtoto mmoja na imepatikana," Rogers Muli told Citizen TV.
“Masister wangu wawili, watoto wa sister angu, bibi ya my cousin hao wote walipotelea hapo lakini hiyo yote tunasema ni Mungu, tunasema asante kwa wale tumepata," Dominic Mutua said.
Mutua told Citizen TV that his parents who were expected to celebrate their big day are still in shock and cannot comprehend the events of the fateful day
Their planned wedding which was suspended after the sad news now turning to a mourning session.
“Mamangu, Babangu wakati walipata hii habari hawakuskia poa hata saa hizi ukijaribu kuangalia in short familia imepoteza watu 10," Mutua added.
Family members now calling on the government to act with speed and build a bridge in the area as the river has claimed tens of lives every rainy season.
“Hii mto kutoka zamani inapeleka watu hakuna mvua ya bure hata kuna probox ilipotelea," Maria Kituku said.
