10 arrested as 45 cartons of 'Baruti' confisticated in Migori
Ten suspects who were arrested in connection to the explosives that have always been used in gold mining have been sentenced by the court according to Kuria West sub county deputy county commissioner Andrew Mwiti.
Mwiti said explosives were netted by the officers from the anti-terror police in collaboration with the directorate of criminal investigations that established that they were brought into the country illegally.
He said the people arrested with the explosives are unlicensed to have the unregulated explosives adding that they could also not explain where the explosives were taken to and for what purpose.
The deputy county commissioner said a number of people who have been arrested with the explosives have always claimed that they are using them in the gold mining.
Mwiti said the government will not allow individuals to bring into the country these explosives illegally and therefore urged the members of the public to work closely with the security officers to stop this illegal trade.
