In today’s fast-paced work environment, self-love is often
overlooked. But according to mental health expert Charlene Waiganjo, embracing
self-love isn’t just about feeling good, it’s a game-changer for workplace
performance and professional relationships.
“So, I want to encourage us all to back to the basics. Are you
sleeping well? Are we drinking enough water? Are we eating balanced meals? We
can do very basic exercise even at home. Am I aware of my thoughts? Are they constructive
or destructive? These are the things we need to be aware of,” Charlene said.
Young professionals are increasingly adopting self-love as a
strategy to stay motivated and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Rhone, Britney, and Diana, three young professionals, shared
how incorporating self-love into their daily routines has helped them thrive in
their careers.
Their go-to self-love practices include: painting after work
hours as a way to relax, getting hair and nails done to improve confidence for
the girls and for the men, ensuring that they dress the part and look
presentable and also going to the gym to keep fit and as a confidence booster.
By embracing these habits, they’ve noticed significant
improvements in their productivity and overall job satisfaction.
As the conversation around workplace wellness continues to
grow, it’s clear that self-love is no longer just a personal practice, it’s a
professional necessity.
So, whether it’s a five minute meditation, a power nap, or
simply saying “No” to burnout, investing in yourself is the ultimate career
move.
