American YouTuber James Stephen alias MrBeast has said he will spend approximately $120 million, equivalent to Ksh.15.6 billion in shooting content this year.

In a recent interview with fellow YouTube star Jon Youshaei, MrBeast added that this would cover a total of 30 videos.

“From buying private islands to building cities, I just want to be the most subscribed channel,” said MrBeast, who is the most subscribed creator on the video platform at 261 million.

He said his viewers’ satisfaction is the motivation behind his videos, noting, “The reason why 100 million people keep coming back every video is because we try and constantly prioritise what they want and what makes them happy.”

“Views and performance matter but ultimately we are just trying to make the audience happy and I want to give them videos that they will like,” MrBeast added.

The 26-year-old internet star has made many videos with very unique ideas, from building towers to locking people in a room to win money, a project he said was one of his most interesting.

For it, he used 300 cameras and had content worth petabytes. For context, 1 petabyte is worth 1000 terabytes.

In the interview, MrBeast said most of his ideas are original while some are what he terms as “Copy and Taste”.

“This is where I elevate the idea, share the credit and blend it from many sources. As compared to copy and pasting where one imitates the idea, takes all the credit and acquires the video from one source,” said MrBeast.

According to ViewStats, MrBeast has amassed over 49 Billion views with an estimated revenue of 1.9 to 5.3 Million dollars per video.

He previously brought one of his projects to Kenya where he built 52 boreholes to provide water to communities and schools lacking clean water.
