YouTuber MrBeast breaks down in tears as he is buried alive for seven days
Popular YouTuber MrBeast spent seven days
sealed inside a coffin and buried underground in a jaw-dropping stunt which has
already garnered a staggering 85 million views in just six days.
While the
mere thought of being buried alive is enough to send shivers down the spines of
most claustrophobes, MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, spent a week in a box
underground to entertain his 212 million YouTube subscribers.
The
stuntsman, who has often gotten in trouble for his daredevilry, stated that the
stunt caused him "mental agony" and urged his followers to not try
the same at home.
Like Uma
Thurman's character in 'Kill Bill', MrBeast voluntarily buried himself ten feet
underground for a seven-day endurance test. Throughout, his team closely
monitored his condition via multiple cameras installed inside the modified
coffin.
"I
spent 7 days buried alive,” reads the title of the video shared on YouTube by
MrBeast.
The video
opens to show MrBeast inside a transparent coffin, stocked with essentials -
including dry foods and water - being slowly lowered into the ground.
As the video
goes on, his team, who comprise his childhood friends and fellow YouTubers,
uses 20,000 pounds of dirt to effectively seal the YouTuber below the surface.
Throughout
the video, MrBeast experiences emotional breakdowns, candidly revealing details
of his daily routine, including bathroom activities, and expresses a loss of
desire to communicate.
Towards the end of the video, he says, “It’s
hard to describe what the sun looks like after not seeing it for seven days
straight.”
While
underground, the suit-clad online megastar continued communicating with his
overhead team via walkie-talkies as they all engaged in friendly banter and
silly jokes, one which involved MrBeast fooling around with a photo of one of
his friend's mother.
During
several gripping moments in the challenge, including when he was being freed
from the casket and the dirt, the YouTuber started to cry, also admitting that
he didn't understand why he was crying during these moments.
On the night
of day four, MrBeast said emotionally, “I hope tomorrow’s easier. It’s a weird
feeling. I am very tired, but for some reason I can’t sleep. I don’t know. I’ve
never had this happen before. Why am I crying? I don’t know.”
After 7
gruelling days of being buried alive, his friends, who had brought along an
excavator, started to dig MrBeast out.
But one risk remained - After lying down for
7 days, if MrBeast stood up rapidly, fatal blood clots could form in his body,
so the group first brought in a medic to check his vitals.
After
getting the green light, the YouTuber finally came out and celebrated hitting
200 million subscribers.
MrBeast's
challenges have often been criticised by fellow YouTubers as being fake. His
charity efforts, too, have also been panned severally by people accusing him of
exploiting people's poverty and situations to create content and generate views.
