Woman sentenced to 20 years after baby starved to death while she partied for 3 days
A 23-year-old woman from Michigan, U.S, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder of her six-month old baby has been sentenced to between 20 to 80 years.
Lovily Johnson was accused of causing the death of her baby, Noah Johnson, after leaving him strapped to a car seat unattended and in a sweltering attic for days without food or water while she was out partying.
According to The New York Post, the baby’s diaper was also not changed and the attic he was left in reached little over 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius).
While delivering the sentence, Kent County Circuit Court Judge Mark Trusock – according to international media outlets – told Ms. Johnson: “… what did you choose to do? You went out with your friends, you partied, you sought out a place that had air conditioning and you used drugs.”
The visibly enraged judge described the case as “outrageously disturbing,” adding that he hoped the accused – who also has 4 year old daughter in foster care – never has the chance to raise another baby again,
Autopsy carried out on the little boy showed he was severely dehydrated, malnourished and had severe nappy rash.
