Wizkid mercilessly tears into Davido as longstanding rivalry ignites again

Wizkid and Davido
The latest spat erupted on Tuesday after Davido teased a snippet of his upcoming single for 2024.
Coincidentally, Wizkid had also been set to release the first track of his much-anticipated “Morayo” album.
Tensions escalated when Davido’s associate, Kayode Yajaur, known as Black Tycoone, seemingly mocked Wizkid over the delay in his album release, tweeting, “Tell your Daddy to drop an album already.”
Wizkid, unfazed by the comment, took to X (formerly Twitter) to throw shade at Davido’s camp, writing, “P***y boys dropping mid again,” followed by, “Una don tire! Make una go rest small!”
While he did not mention Davido by name, fans were quick to interpret the post as a jab at the ‘Fem’ singer.
In defence of Davido, one fan accused Wizkid of using the rivalry to stir up attention, tweeting, “So if you no beef @davido, your song won’t sell?”
Wizkid responded swiftly, denying that he was clout-chasing while attacking Davido’s talent. “I don’t beef wack niggas! We all know he’s wack! No talent!” he fired back.
Wizkid continued the tirade, dismissing Davido’s body of work as “trash” and bragging about his own superior musical output. “80 trash! We got 80 albums for any song y’all drop! P***y boys!” he added.
Both artists rose to fame at approximately the same time and have been massive exports as music acts, but they are known to have been in a Cold War fueled by their fan base, the 30 Billion Gang and Wizkid FC, for over a decade.
Over the years, there have been numerous instances of subtle jabs and outright disses exchanged between them, keeping their feud alive in the public eye.
One of the earliest public spats occurred in 2014 when Davido tweeted about a concert in New York, implying that he had a larger turnout than Wizkid. Wizkid responded with a cryptic tweet, and the back-and-forth continued, much to the delight of their fans.
This incident set the tone for what would become a long-standing rivalry.
They both have also enjoyed considerable popularity globally, with Wizkid's Essence cementing his place as a global superstar and Davido selling out arenas across Europe and the USA.
They've also both collaborated with some of the biggest names in pop music, from Justin Bieber to Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj and Drake.
Even as Wizkid keeps the attacks coming, Davido has remained mum, preferring to let his musical foe expend his energies as he focuses on his new single.
As it all happened, controversial Afrobeat singer Portable, through an Instagram post, accused both artists of using their differences for publicity as their music no longer dominates the charts. He urged them to focus on creating good music instead of relying on social media drama to remain relevant.
He wrote: “Don’t use your brother to shine, shine yourself. Una songs no dey market again, na fight una dey use do promotion.
“Let’s forget fake promotions, I get hit songs. Portable is bigger than them. Who is big is big…
“Me, I no dey for Davido. Me, I no dey for Wizkid. I dey for myself. That’s why I dey for those who dey for me.”
