Why Njugush has quit ‘The Real Househelps of Kawangware’

Celebrated Kenyan comedian Timothy Kimani, better known as Njugush, has announced exit from popular KTN local drama The Real Househelps of Kawangware.

Njugush took to Facebook on Tuesday, May 17 to announce his unforeseen departure from the programme citing changes in scripting and directing as the main reasons for his decision.

“Hi family, I will no longer be on ‪The Real Househelps of Kawangware; sad as it might be,” he broke the news.

“The aspects being scripting and directing; change is not bad, but without gelled and oiled transition I feel it would put characters, plot and the whole show in jeopardy,” said Njugush.

“However I am really humbled for all the support you’ve given me as a character through and through. I have grown in measures unforeseen, and for that I will forever be grateful for your undying love. Also Protel studios asante for the platform you gave me. Above all – God – for weaving this basket to completion.”

Speaking to eDaily, Njugush said Philip Karanja – who was the initial director of the drama and the scriptwriter Abel Mutua, formerly Freddie of Tahidi High, have left the show.

“I do not have any business being there because I am not sure if the new guys who are coming are going to be good. The production team did not make a seamless transition between the directors. The new team should have first shadowed the original director and scriptwriter of the programme before being given full responsibilities.”

“For them to just come in and expect the tempo to maintain… it cannot really work.”

What next for Njugush?

“There’s definitely something that is going to come out,” he said.

In The Real Househelps of Kawangware, Njugush played the role of a young, hustling hawker with ambitions as house helps fight to win his heart. He was one of the key acts in the programme.
