What went wrong? Ben Pol opens up on relationship with Anerlisa Muigai

Tanzanian singer Ben Pol has opened up on his relationship with Keroche heiress Anerlisa Muigai, which was brewed in 2018 and ended last year.

Ben Pol recalls that he was the one that approached Anerlisa, who received him well and they clicked, then started dating not so long after.

In 2020, the two lovebirds got married at a private wedding ceremony that was only attended by 7 people. Months later, they parted ways.

Speaking on Radio Citizen’s Mseto East Africa show on Thursday, Ben Pol said their marriage  - albeit shortlived - was just a normal one and they would stay together in Kenya and Tanzania.

“Right now, I do not feel that there is something I would have fixed if time was reversed. That is life. We used to work together on many things, and it would help,” Ben Pol told show host Mzazi Willy M Tuva.

However, Ben Pol, who is currently single, also added that he is in a good space right now.

But what went wrong?

“To be honest, I cannot pin point one or two things that went wrong between us, I was myself and genuine. Things did not work, and one can just accept and move on,” he said.

After divorcing Anerlisa, Ben Pol sought therapy and worked on himself.

He says that he has respected Anerlisa’s space and would only talk to her if there is need.

Before meeting Anerlisa, Ben Pol was in a relationship with the mother of his 6-year-old son.

He is currently co-parenting with his ex-partner, saying he has a good relationship with his son with whom they spend time together and travel.

The singer, who is on a tour in Kenya, recently released a song dubbed ‘Kijanisha, where he features Joh Makini. Frida Amani and Gospel singer Christina Shusho.
