Want to pick my brain? Show me the money! Reactions after influencer Just Ivy posted her hourly rate card
Popular
investments influencer and YouTuber Just Ivy Africa has left tongues wagging
after announcing her rate card to her fans.
While
sharing a poster on her Instagram stories, Ivy wrote, "Pick My Brain...
This week is fully booked. Secure your hour with me and let's elevate your
brand/content etc..."
The
high-flying marketing guru is now charging $50 (Ksh.6,930) to engage
with potential clients one-on-one.
While
the figure may appear measly to some, a few folks on Twitter thought the figure
was a little too high and even went online to rant.
While
reacting to the announcement, Twitter user @Nefertittie wrote, "Aki
influencers si watatumaliza. $ 50 an hour???? Eish!"
Her
sentiments, however, didn't receive much backing as over 95 per cent of the
people who commented seemed to back Just Ivy.
Janet
Machuka, a renowned social media marketing expert, said, "This is cheap.
The reason why Kenyan thought leaders don't grow is because of the lack of
support."
"When
others are charging $500 per hour in other countries, Kenyans are making a fuss
about $50. If you aren't a target audience, l suggest we just let them
be!"
Another
Twitter user, @Eric_Ruhi also came to Ivy's defense, saying, "Great
positioning if you ask me. If she provides high-touch, top quality service
that’s stands out, customers will come."
After
a flurry of divergent comments kept flowing, Ivy herself doubled down on her
position and defended her services.
"We
pay more for similar services but it's wrong when digital creators do it,"
she tweeted.
As a
founding member of the hugely-popular YouTube group 'Over 25', which just
folded close to a month ago, Just Ivy is one of Kenya's most prominent and
hugely-respected brand names with a colorful history of excellent brand
management and influencing.
Last
October, Ivy, who is also an entrepreneur and businesswoman, won the ‘Most
Innovative Influencer of the Year’ and ‘Business Influencer of the Year’ awards
at the Pulse Influencer Awards held at Movenpick Hotel.
“First
thing I did after winning the awards is change my bio, the second was increasing
my rate card because I am an award winner now,” she told a local website then.
“My first partnership came through Over 25, it was a cab company and I got that work by simply getting into a cab seeing that I am in a cab and tagging them. It is not rocket science and you don’t have to overthink this industry. Do you and at the end of the day there are people watching.”
