'They’re crazy!' U.K group NSG says of Kenyans after Nairobi concert
Netizens describe Nairobi City as the
‘sherehe capital’, and as it turns out, they’re not wrong.
This past weekend, Nairobians had quite the
time of their lives following two much-hyped concerts that took place in the
capital.
Sol Fest concert, headlined by boy band Sauti
Sol, was hosted at the Carnivore Grounds on December 12 and on the same
day, British Afro-swing band NSG held their ‘Roots Africa Tour’ at
the Pizza and Wine Festival at Ngong Racecourse.
One of the members of the six-piece band,
Papii Abz, narrated the experience of the UK Rap Group, being their first time
to perform live in Kenya.
In an Instagram live after the successful
concert, Papii termed the energy in Kenya as stupendous when it comes to
holding down a show.
“I have done shows in my life and this is no exaggeration, nothing has topped Kenya yet. They're crazy. The energy is stupendous,” he said.
Having already performed in Zambia as well,
the ‘Petite’ hit makers will be continuing their Africa tour this month with
performances in Nigeria on December 18 and Ghana on December 23.
Early in December, the group slid through
with a brand new EP titled, ‘Headliner’. The project boasts three songs in
total with Mist assisting on ‘Only God Can Judge Me’ and Patoranking joining on
‘Suzanna’.
Influences of dancehall and afrobeats seep
through each track.
The new project from NSG arrives after a
flurry of singles in 2021, as well as their 2020 album, 'Roots' which
included appearances from Chip, Tion Wayne, and Randy Valentine.
