'Sultana' actress Bwire Ndubi opens up on battle with Cancer

Actress Winfred Bwire Ndubi, popularly known by her on-screen character ‘Dida’ on Citizen TV show ‘Sultana,’ recently revealed that she has silently been battling breast Cancer.

Bwire disclosed that she is on the last laps of undertaking Cancer treatment and is grateful for the support her close friends and family members have accorded her.

"As we mark the end of the breast cancer awareness month, I'd love to appreciate your love and support through my journey,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Those in the know walked with me from the very beginning. We’re almost at the end of the lap, and I count myself blessed to have people like you in my life.”

Bwire also stated that her cancer journey has made her stronger, courageous and inspired her to be the person she currently is.

“My process continues to teach me that we are true determinants of what we take on this life. Strength of heart, mind and emotion computes a warrior spirit,” she stated.

She went ahead to advice people to take regular medical check-ups and screenings to know their health statuses and address medical issues when it’s still early.

"Please keep going for screenings even when the month of October ends. Breast cancer knows no age, colour, size nor gender. Know your body and treat it right,” she added.

“To all my warriors out there, keep fighting. Your life is yours to live. Don’t let cancer outlive you. Don’t let it ever stop you. Don’t let it eat at your brain.”

Going by the known pain and struggles of having cancer, her fans expressed dismay and admiration at her confidence and strength in making the revelation public.

Her courage in posting her bald head also sparked numerous reactions from people.

“When we went to see her a few weeks ago, she had baked cake. Cake you guys. We couldn’t tell she was sick until she removed her wig, that’s when reality hit,” commented a friend of hers.

“Keep going dear, some us draw strength from other like you….strong and beautiful,” a fan stated.

Yet another said: "You challenge me to be a better human by living your authentic self. Much love always and sending you lots of hugs, blessings and light.”
