Singer Dogo Skillz leads charity drive in Kawangware

Popular singer Dogo Skillz over the weekend visited the New Hope Children's Home in Kawangware where he participated in donating foodstuff, clothing and toys to the orphaned children.

Dogo, who founded the Dogo Skillz Foundation in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic peak, was joined by the foundation's manager Frank Odicho, secretary general Virgyl Ochieng and PR officer Purity Kagendo as they spent the better part of Saturday preparing meals, cleaning up and socializing with the young children.

The team arrived at New Hope Children's Home as early as 10am and immediately embarked on the preparation of meals under the stewardship of Gloria Besha, a renowned city chef and the foundation's treasurer.

Popular influencer Jay Bee also joined the team as he led the children in doing dances and participating in sing-alongs amongst a myriad of other fun kid games.

Speaking at the event, Dogo said that, having been supported by an American couple himself, he saw the need to give back to society.

"I'm the beneficiary of kindness myself. I was technically raised and supported by an American couple who gave me the life I wanted. I wanted these kids to feel loved too and to experience humanity," he said. "Seeing the smiles on their faces comforts my soul."

New Hope Children's Home was founded in 2010 and has over 50 children. Founded by Farida Ochango alongside Ann Oside the home has served the opharned children in Kawangware for 13 years, taking them to school and even seeing some off to campus like in the case of 20-year old campus student Monica Osinde.

"We're really grateful to the Dogo Skillz Foundation for the kindness they've extended to us. We struggle alot with finances and food and seeing what this team has done is extremely encouraging. We cannot thank them enough for this generosity," Ann Oside said.

Over the last two years, the Dogo Skillz Foundation has visited over 30 homes across the country and continues to visit even more as they aim to cover at least 100 homes by the end of this year.

"We're primarily driven by the people who have put their faith in us and who have entrusted us with the job of spreading smiles and feeding the hungry. It's a duty I am grateful to execute and a mission I am happy to push," he said.

Supported by the Dr. Aoll Foundation, CMG USA and several CBOs, Dogo has continued to lift up the hearts of hundreds of forgotten children as he still pushes his nascent music career.

"We're fully behind Dogo and his charitable missions. We are committed to not just support his music career but also his initiatives and are happy to be part of such a noble calling," CMG Records honcho Stephen Desmond Aoll said.
