Two years after he
was fired from radio over a controversial remark, media personality Shaffie
Weru has bounced back bigger and better.
The
self-proclaimed ‘Raverend’ on Tuesday officially confirmed to Citizen Digital
that he has landed a new role in the Nairobi County government.
Shaffie, in the
phone interview, said he is the new Head of Events and Branding in the Governor
Johnson Sakaja-led government.
He however noted
that, despite the news breaking out on Tuesday, the appointment actually came
last week and he has – matter of factly – already even settled into his new
gig.
The prominent
personality, in a separate interview with the Nation, compared Nairobi to New
York and Paris, adding that his desire is to make the country’s capital a city
of order and dignity as outlined in Governor Sakaja’s manifesto.
"Nairobi is
the New York or Paris of our country, and we offer the best experience and push
boundaries that have never been pushed before to give the best results in
service delivery for our number one client, the people of Kanairo,“ he said.
“It’s not about my
vision but the vision of my Governor as it is enshrined in his manifesto that
includes a city of dignity and making Nairobi work!”
Shaffie, a
long-term radio aficiado, was among three breakfast show presenters who were relieved off their duties at Homeboyz Radio – through its parent company, Radio Africa –
in March 2018 over comments they made on air that elicited massive uproar.
After being off
the air for two years, Shaffie made a comeback in January this year with a new
show on his YouTube channel dubbed ‘Shafted’ that received a relatively warm
reception from his fans who were thrilled to have him back.
