#ResurrectionChallenge goes viral after S.A preacher ‘raises man from the dead’
Social media has gone into a frenzy with the “Resurrection Challenge” after a video of controversial preacher, Alph Lukau of Alleluia Ministries International, resurrecting a “dead” man, went viral on social media.
During the church service in Johannesburg, the coffin with the man’s body was removed from the hearse as congregants gathered around it.
A woman, who claimed to be the man’s landlord, told Lukau that the now-revived got sick and started coughing on Friday, which prompted them to take him to the hospital.
“That is where he died in my hands,” she said.
The woman, however, did not reveal which hospital the man had been rushed to.
Lakau began to pray for the body, which reportedly came straight from the mortuary, prompting the man to sit upright in the coffin with his mouth and eyes wide open.
Later, the “resurrected man” was seen eating a sumptuous meal in church as his body shook occasionally.
The video has received razor-sharp criticism from thousands of online users, who have expressed skepticism at the “miracle”.
A hawk-eyed online user spotted an object resembling a mobile phone stashed in the pocket of the “resurrected man’s” coat as he was walking towards the church, leaving social media followers wondering whether the man died with his phone placed in his pocket.
Some skeptics even went ahead to participate in the now-viral #ResurrectionChallenge.
The “resurrected man” – according to some social media users, who claim to be familiar with Mr Lukau’s operations –, is the preacher’s cameraperson, who moves around with him on “holy missions”.
Two years ago Mr Lukau gobbled media headlines, when he allegedly went to a South African hospital and “healed all the patients in the ward”.
