Nameless, who is one of the most prominent Kenyan artists and who has been in the industry for close to three decades, on Tuesday took to his official Instagram page to pay tribute to his father, sharing poignant photos of the two in what appears to be a striking, personal father-son moment.
A mournful Nameless captioned the photos: "Rest well Daddy. I'm blessed being measure to have had you as a father!"
His wife, singer Wahu, also took to the comments to honour her late father-in-law, writing, “An amazing father-in-love. We thank God for the full life, your warmth, wisdom, and everything that you were. Until we meet again. Rest with the angels, dad."
Earlier, the Mathenge household had revealed that Mzee Mathenge died peacefully on Sunday at his Kiserian home, adding that his family was by his bedside to "pray and give thanks for a man who lived a full life".
"He has been a blessing to us all," the family added.
The senior Mathenge turned 88 back in April 2024 and Nameless, alongside his siblings, gathered to celebrate their father while also showering him with praises for his exemplary fatherhood duties and his dedication of love toward his wife and all of his children.
While celebrating his dad on the occasion, Nameless wrote on his Facebook page: "We are gathered with dad on his 88th birthday, and we couldn't help but be grateful for the health of mom and dad!"
He accompanied the statement with beautiful photos showing himself, his parents, and his siblings enjoying happy moments as they celebrated Mr. Mathenge's birthday.
“Dad told us something that I will hold dear to my heart. He said sometimes he sits and looks at each of his children and can't believe he was blessed with such good children who always stick together! That made us feel so good!🙏🏿," Nameless said.
The father of three also shared an important piece of advice his father gave them about the importance of criticism.
"He also told us to always remember that we can't know everything and be right, to be open to correction and also free to correct each other if we feel the need. Growth is vital in any relationship!” he wrote then.
