Rayvanny officially announces exit from Diamond's WCB Wasafi label
Tanzanian singer Raymond Shaban Mwakyusa, popularly
known as Rayvanny, has announced his official departure from the WCB Wasafi record
label after six years.
He highlighted his time at WCB and the
accomplishments he made while signed to the Diamond Platnumz-led record label
in a video posted on his social media platforms on Tuesday.
Rayvanny begins the video by taking his fans back
to his early days and how he built a strong friendship with Diamond during his
time at the label.
“Ni miaka sita sasa toka tuanze kufanya kazi
pamoja. My team, my family, WCB Wasafi, upendo, umoja imekua gunzo kubwa sana
kama team," he said.
The ‘Tetema’ hitmaker highlighted his
accomplishments while working with WCB, including being the first Tanzanian
musician to be nominated for and actually win a BET Award, as well as appearing
on international stages like MTV Awards and the Dubai Expo.
“Nimekuwa msanii wa kwanza mwenye tuzo ya BET
Awards, nimekuwa msanii wa kwanza kupanda majukwaa makubwa duniani kama MTV,
Dubai Expo na mengine mengi,” he narrated.
In addition, Rayvanny takes satisfaction in
being the first Tanzanian artist to feature on the Billboard charts following
his ‘Tetema’ remix hit with Maluma.
He is additionally the first musician from
his nation to exceed 100 million Boomplay streams.
“Haya yote yalifanyika kipindi tukiwa pamoja,”
he says in the emotional video directed towards the label, as well as its
founder Diamond.
Rayvanny thanked Diamond, his boss, for
giving him a stage on which he was able to show the world his talent, as he
announced his departure from WCB Wasafi to now concentrate on running his own record
label company, Next Level Music (NLM).
“Shukran for that to my family, Wasafi,
Rayvanny went forth to describe Diamond as
someone he admires and respects, saying he will forever be grateful to him for
helping him get this far.
“My brother Diamond Platnumz, heshima yangu
kwako haitowai futika, nathamini sana mchango wako, Mungu akusaidie ata
ulonifanyia Mungu akuzidishie. God bless you Lion, Diamond Platnumz,” he said.
Diamond took to the Instagram comment section of Rayvanny’s departure video to say: “NLM PRESIDENT! Let's Gooooooo!"
