Popular TikToker amuses Kenyans with yet another encounter with Nairobi's rich kids
Popular content creator J Segera has
continued to elicit reactions from fans due to his unique brand of 'high end'
content, coupled with a splodge of young adults from affluent backgrounds.
Segera, who
normally walks around with a tiny microphone and a portable camera, shooting
questions at random people in parties and public streets, has once again become
the topic of conversation after sharing a video in which he is seen conducting
a random interview with young thrillseekers in Nairobi.
In the
video, Segera asks several young women and men, "Who is the most
attractive person in this party?"
As if on
cue, the participants jump right into the trivia session, eagerly sharing who
they think was the most attractive woman or man at the party and some, even
leaving the set to drag their 'attractive' friend to the view.
Characteristically,
the animated Segera appears to enjoy the excitement his question is causing as
more and more young revelers gladly accept to participate.
One by one,
these young women share names of who they think was the most attractive person
in the party. Some say Anita, others Tina while others also mention an Owen or
an Ashley.
What,
however, got Kenyans talking is the kind of crowd Segera appeared to be
interacting with - urbane, stylishly dressed, pompous, uber-trendy, very chic
and with a heavy British accent too.
Some Kenyans
even wondered where, in Nairobi, would there be such a Westernised crowd,
complete with the accent, the foreign look and the aura.
The comments
that followed thereafter also were as hilarious as they were downright
diabolical.
"Hapa
ukijaribu kusema woza woza unajipata Ngomongo police station!" someone
said.
Another added,
"Hapa ukisema 'Zimeshika' unapelekwa Guantanamo bay..."
Yet another
commented, "Hapa ukizima unaamka na simu zako zote kwa mfuko na
wamecharge..."
However,
some did not fail to notice the strikingly imported accents, with many of the
young crowd appearing to have thick East London accents - some, West African,
too.
Many wondered
where Segera normally gets to meet these types of people and if they even are
in Kenya in the first place.
Also,
Kenyans noted just how the party looked relaxed - with the revelers appearing
to be in free spirits, cheery mood and a relaxed state of mind.
One of the
people Segera questions kicks off the accent drive, dropping his thick London
accent on the word 'Party' which he pronounces as 'Paa-Eey'.
"These
accents are so forced! I don't know, maybe it's just me. Are these Kenyans? We
have people in Kenya who speak like this? Daily? Or is it just a drunk act? I
wanna know where this dude keeps finding these people!" someone said.
But this is
not the first time Segera has made news with the sort of crowd he interacts
with for this content creation.
Earlier this
year, he once again lit up the internet with yet another crowd of youthful
party lovers who, in their interactions, appeared care-free and to be living in
their own idyllic world - and then, Kenyans learned of the mystical out of body
experience, astral projection.
In the April
interview, one girl shocked many with her incomprehensible ramblings about
spirituality and the human psyche.
"My
name is Maruru and I'm having a human experience in this vessel. But I'm not
human," she said then.
"I'm a
vessel, I'm an instrument of nature, man. I'm into philosophy and esoteric
knowledge. Pre-history and history, like I just love humanity..." she
continued.
While the
trivia genre of content creation is hugely-popular on Tiktok and other
platforms, Segera appears to have carved his own niche with the type of people
he approaches and questions.
Just by how
they speak, how've they've dressed, where they are or what they say, they
almost always get the internet talking - and, maybe, they don't even know
they're being talked about.
