Popular rapper Kristoff donated soccer kits, food and Ksh. 100,000 to budding soccer players in Kawangware in a drive aimed at fostering football and driving young talents out of the streets.

Accompanied by rising music star Nakoche Msela, Kristoff joined several Kenyan premier league players in making donations at the Gatina Primary School grounds.

Nakoche, an affiliate of CMG Records, whose head honcho Desmond Stephen largely spearheaded the drive, spent the afternoon encouraging the young talents, dishing out goodies and watching a tough match between local teams Pirates and Hardboys.

The benevolent move is a brainchild of US-based music impresario and talent scout Desmond Stephen alongside Nakoche Msela, himself a survivor of Kawangware's roughest and toughest backstreets.

While speaking at the event, Kristoff espoused the values of self-reliance and the power of talent.

"I'm from the same background as most of you. I could have chosen to live a life of crime but instead, I leveraged on my talent to change my life and that of those around me. You're incredibly gifted soccer players and, with that talent, you will one day wine and dine with Kings and Presidents. Nakoche is your own son, you've seen his growth. Let him be an inspiration to all of you, " he said.

While addressing the youths via a zoom call, CMG Records President congratulated Nakoche on the consistent soccer drives and also promised to continue supporting the efforts.

"I'm glad that you had continuously come back home to give back to the people you left behind. This is a commendable move. I'm happy that you've held onto the dream and are now lifting up more souls just like I lifted you. I'll continue to offer you all my support, emotionally, financially and morally, " he said.

In a nail-biting match that was attended by hundreds of Kawangware residents, local team Pirates floored their rivals through penalty shoots thus qualifying for the grand final.

The finals will be held on the sponsor's birthday and will also see the CMG label's mogul attend.
