PHOTOS: Daddy Owen breaks silence on introducing Charlene Ruto to his mother in Kakamega

Renowned Gospel singer Daddy Owen has publicly commented on President William Ruto's daughter's visit to his home village, terming it a 'crowning moment' of 2023.

Charlene Ruto visited Daddy Owen's Kakamega home on December 23, 2023 and was introduced to his mother, other close relatives and gathered neighbours.

While sharing exclusive photos of the event, the 'System ya Kapungala' hitmaker revealed more about the surprise visit, saying that the First Daughter indulged in dance and song as she got to meet his mother and also partake in some of Luhyaland's most delectable dishes.

"2023 was a good year! I thank GOD! I had so many highlights, but the climax, the pinnacle and the crowning moment came at the tail end of the year when @charlruto visited my home in Eshieywe a.k.a Kakamega!" he wrote.

"We celebrated with songs, dance and ululations! Abhashiere came with their best dancing shoes to whirl to the real isikuti made from the tough ‘imbulu’ skin!"

A proud son of Mulembe, Owen also explicitly named the various traditional foods Charlene Ruto enjoyed, adding that the village - and his mother - were happy to host such a dignified guest.

"We ate various Abhatsotso tradition delicacies from ‘amakwakwata’ to ‘lhisebhebhe’...Ebhusang'ang'a village was happy, my mum was happy, she loves guests.. and the guests were happy as well,” he wrote.

In November, Owen shared photos of himself playing basketball with Charlene.

The pictures sparked rumours, leading netizens to speculate that there might be more than just a friendly connection between them.

When contacted by Milele FM, the musician took the opportunity to address the circulating rumours and clarify the nature of his relationship with Charlene.

“Ah, what’s all this about? Bro, you know some things shouldn’t be talked about. Some are serious, man… Let’s not go there. You’re my brother; I wouldn’t want to put you in a tough spot,” Daddy Owen said.

“No, it’s just work. Apart from being friends, we have many projects we’re working on together… It’s not necessary that every time you see me with someone, they have to be more than a friend.”

In the recent photos shared by the singer, Charlene is seen dressed in a red blouse with a blue 'shuka' wrapped around her waist. On his part, Owen is dressed in a silk, flowery shirt and black trousers.

In another photo, Owen's female relatives can be seen handing a pot of beans to the President's daughter.
