Nyashinski lights up Governor Johnson Sakaja’s swearing-in ceremony
Kenyan rapper Nyamari Ongegu, popularly known
as Nyashinski, was the sole performer at Thursday's swearing-in ceremony of new
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja at KICC.
Nyashinski arrived hand-in-hand with his wife
Zia Bett, alongside his producer Cedo, at the event that was also graced by
high-ranking dignitaries, among them President-elect William Ruto.
Media personalities Jimmy Gathu and Massawe
Japani, who were the hosts of the day, ushered in Nyashinski to perform at the
event and he kicked off with his smash hit ‘Marathon Runner.’
He then sang ‘Hayawani’ after which he paused
for a bit to congratulate Sakaja, whom he has previously interviewed and who
confessed to being a huge fan of his music.
“Nairobi how are you feeling? Let me see you
wave your hand in the air one time…congratulations are in order to my friend,”
he said, as he broke out into yet another song – ‘Hayawani.’
After that, he added: “Congratulations are in
order, it’s my honour to perform here today at this wonderful ceremony. We’ve
put our trust in you, we know you will do your best.”
Nyashinski closed out his performance with his
hit song ‘Mungu Pekee’ then said “Blessings, thank you Nairobi, peace and love’
as he exited the stage.
