Nyashinski apologises to fans over no-show at problematic Walker Town concert
In a statement shared on his Instagram story post, Nyashinski expressed deep regret for not being able to perform, despite being present at the event and ready to take the stage.
"Greetings, my people. I truly appreciate you for paying your hard earned money & braving the harsh weather to come and see me perform. We work our hardest to give you an amazing performance, worth your time and money," he said.
“I sincerely apologize for not being able to do so at Walker Town Festival, this past sunday.”
The 'Perfect Design' hitmaker explained that, although he and his team were on site and prepared to perform, unforeseen factors beyond their control ultimately prevented them from taking the stage.
“We were on site and ready for the performance but as confirmed by our partners, due to factors way beyond our control we were not able to take to the stage, " he wrote.
“We acknowledge the disappointment and inconveniences caused."
In his statement, Nyashinski also thanked the event organizers and expressed optimism for future events.
“To our partners: Thank you for daring to create spectacular events for the people to enjoy and for artists to showcase and earn from their art."
“I’m optimistic that upcoming events will be bigger, better, and we can once again make amazing memories.” he concluded.
A day after the show, the East African Breweries Limited (EABL) announced a full refund to all ticket holders for the second day of the WalkerTown festival held on Sunday in Kasarani, Nairobi.
In a statement on Monday, September 30, EABL apologised for the mishaps experienced during the festival as concert-goers were forced to brave heavy rains which delayed the much-anticipated performances from the day's headliners.
"This resulted in the delayed performance by Miss Lauryn Hill and, regrettably, the cancellation of our brand partner Nyashinski’s performance, which deeply impacted the overall festival experience," said EABL.
EABL, therefore, noted that it will issue a one hundred percent refund to all Day Two ticket holders within the next two weeks.
"This is a reflection of our commitment to fairness and respect for the trust you placed in us," EABL added.
The brewer further apologised to all affected fans, artists and partners, affirming that they will provide a quality concert experience in future events.
As of Monday morning, dejected attendees had taken to social media to lament the show's underwhelming experience as others demanded a refund.
US R&B legend Lauryn Hill only came on stage minutes past 3 am and was forced to perform amid a terrible sound, a chilly weather and a sometimes inaudible microphone.
