No more locks! Nyashinski surprises fans with drastic haircut

After more than a decade, popular rapper Nyashinski, real name Nyamari Ongegu, has decided to overhaul his look and cut his famous locks.

The ‘Perfect Love’ crooner, who is more renown for his signature thick locks, is now sporting a dramatic new look featuring just a curly high fade.

Taking to Instagram, the rapper shared the new hairstyle, looking pensive, writing: "And to imagine that at some point, even this version of you will be the old you. God willing."

Speaking to Citizen Digital, a source close to Nyashinski explained that Nyashinski had always anticipated to cut his locks once he hit 40, adding that, despite it being a tough decision, he would still do the same in his 50s, too.

"(He) always planned to do it once he hit 40, a decision he had made years ago; to change his look for his 40s, and if God keeps him into his 50s he will change his look then also. It was a hard decision obviously..." the source revealed.

The new look comes with no warning, leaving many fans understandably shocked but with others pleasantly surprised.

Some of his fellow celebrities joined fans in reacting to the new look, and while some welcomed it, some expressed their difficulty embracing the new Nyashinski.

Popular DJ Sliqboy, who also cut his locks last year, wrote: "Welcome to the other side."

Wanjiku GK, a fan, wrote, "Just fell to my knees at Quickmart!"

Nyashinski joins an exclusive club of Kenyan celebrities who said goodbye to their locks. They include Sean Andrew, DJ Sadic, Nick Odhiambo, Timmy T Dat and Mordecai of H_art the Band.
