Nigerian singer Davido's son drowns in swimming pool
Nigerian
singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has lost his only son with fiancée
Chioma Rowland.
Davido’s
son, David Adeleke Ifeanyi Jr, reportedly drowned in a swimming pool on Monday,
October 31 at their home in Banana Island, Lagos.
The
sad news was revealed by Davido’s foster brother, Emeka Senator who took to his
social media to post; “The revelation was taken for granted. God, we are so
sorry.”
The
death of David Ifeanyi Jr. comes a few days after his third birthday
celebration during which his parents penned heartwarming messages for him.
“I
pray with all my heart that God grants you perfect health and pure happiness
for as long as humanly possible. You will grow to be better than me, Happy
birthday son,” wrote Davido.
Chioma,
on her part, wrote: “Happy birthday to the love of my life. Mummy loves you so
much, may God always bless you for me. God has been so faithful to us and I’m
so grateful to be called your mummy. May you be greater than your parents in
Jesus’ name, amen. Love you twin!”
Davido
and Chioma were not available when their son drowned and were only informed of his
condition after he was rushed to hospital.
The
unfortunate event led the boy’s caretakers and domestic staff to be summoned for
questioning regarding his death, as it is still unclear how he drowned in a
home of more than nine caretakers.
Both
Davido and Chioma are still silent on the matter and are yet to make a public statement,
with Nigerian media outlets saying they’re still in shock and are heartbroken.
Celebrities
and politicians have since penned
cryptic messages on their official social media pages to Davido and Chioma
following the devastating news.
Nigerian
musician Stonebwoy wrote: Divine
strength and Hope for you brother @davido. Your goliaths seems to cease not but
so shall your victories over them never cease.”
Ckay
wrote: “Prayers up for @davido, Chioma and their families. This is
crazyyyy. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain…”
