Ndovu Kuu, Jovial, Brandy Maina set to perform at Jamhuri Day celebrations
The Permanent Presidential Music Commission (PPMC) has released a list
of Kenyan artistes set to perform at the upcoming Jamhuri Day celebrations set
for December 12, 2022 at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.
The commission, in a statement to newsrooms on Friday, said it had put
together a roster of both young and seasoned musicians as well as dancers to entertain the over 20,000 people expected to attend the fete.
“The songs have fused both cultural and contemporary Kenyan music. The
cultural music focuses on the 5 lyres from Kenya and the one and only harp from
Kenya, while the contemporary music focuses on patriotism and nationalism,” PPMC
said.
Among the artistes that will take to the stage at the celebrations
include; Ndovu Kuu, Jovial, Masauti, Brandy Maina, Faith Stan, Dufla Diligon,
MakAdem, Timmy TDat and the 'Tis The Season' Ensemble that comprises of seasoned musicians
like Atemi, Chris Adwar, Manasseh Shalom, Serro and Wambura Mitaru.
Young artists who stood out from the National Youth Talent Development
Programme and who will also be part of the entertainment programme are; Kaka
Mlezii, Catherine Muhia, Nicole Ogama, Patricia Yebei, Sheryl Faith, Jerry
Ayimba, Christine Muthoni, and Bradley Bett.
“Kenya has a diverse cultural heritage especially in music and Permanent
Presidential Music Commission is committed to ensure its protection and
development through quality productions such as during national celebrations,”
read the statement.
“The story of the lyres and the harp is a PPMC initiative; one whose
purpose is to showcase the different stringed instruments within the Kenyan
communities.”
