“The songs have fused both cultural and contemporary Kenyan music. The cultural music focuses on the 5 lyres from Kenya and the one and only harp from Kenya, while the contemporary music focuses on patriotism and nationalism,” PPMC said.

Among the artistes that will take to the stage at the celebrations include; Ndovu Kuu, Jovial, Masauti, Brandy Maina, Faith Stan, Dufla Diligon, MakAdem, Timmy TDat and the 'Tis The Season' Ensemble that comprises of seasoned musicians like Atemi, Chris Adwar, Manasseh Shalom, Serro and Wambura Mitaru.

Young artists who stood out from the National Youth Talent Development Programme and who will also be part of the entertainment programme are; Kaka Mlezii, Catherine Muhia, Nicole Ogama, Patricia Yebei, Sheryl Faith, Jerry Ayimba, Christine Muthoni, and Bradley Bett.

“Kenya has a diverse cultural heritage especially in music and Permanent Presidential Music Commission is committed to ensure its protection and development through quality productions such as during national celebrations,” read the statement.

“The story of the lyres and the harp is a PPMC initiative; one whose purpose is to showcase the different stringed instruments within the Kenyan communities.”
