Legendary DJ Pinye announces death of his father
Legendary DJ Peter Chuani, popularly known as
DJ Pinye, has lost his father.
While taking
to Instagram to break the news, the seasoned disc jockey termed the death a
'profound loss' which had left an 'indescribable void' in his heart.
"It is
with deep sorrow that I reveal the profound loss of my beloved father, his
departure leaving an indescribable void," he announced in the post.
"Despite
my hopes for 2024, finding solace in the end of his pain is bittersweet..."
Just four
days ago, the DJ gave an update on his father who he had shared was suffering
from Alzheimer's - a progressive disease that destroys memory and other
important mental functions, mostly associated with the elderly.
In an
Instagram post he shared with fans, Pinye revealed that he had become his
father's caregiver and was reading a book on how to manage Alzheimer's incase a
loved one was suffering from it. He also encouraged anyone with a family member
living with the condition to pick up the book.
"As you
all know by now, I have become a care giver after we discovered my dad has
Alzheimer's. Sasa, I was gifted this book by one of my summer bunnies friend
from the states. Now the thing is if you all dont know, I have ADHD so am quiet
a slow reader but I have challenged myself in 2024 to read this book cause it
has very powerful information that would let my father live the rest of his
life comfortably," he shared.
"I
recommend anyone going through the same to get this book because it also talks
about how to prevent Alzheimer's just by changing diet."
Pinye first
went public about his dad's condition back in September 2023, telling fans that
while it was painful to watch his dad's memory completely disappear, he was
relieved that adding coconut oil to his diet was helping regain some of it back.
"Some
time ago, my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, a truly devastating experience
for anyone. Watching his memories fade away as the condition progressed was
heart-wrenching. Medications offered little relief, but then we stumbled upon
coconut oil," he wrote then.
"We
stopped his medications and began adding Coconut Oil to his daily diet.
Miraculously, he started to recover some of his lost memories."
Back in
2016, at an event dubbed 'Grown and Sexy', held to celebrate his 45th birthday
and announce his retirement from DJ'ing, Pinye brought together friends and
industry heavyweights for a poignant night which ended, for the most part, in
tears.
His father,
who was part of the attendees then, rose from his seat and started dancing
along to Pinye's legendary mixes.
This moved
the veteran entertainer so much that he broke down in tears, while slumped on
his DJ equipment.
His dad later joined him at the DJ booth and
they both embraced, deeply overcome with emotion.
