KRG The Don celebrates birthday in lavish ceremony, releases Konshens collabo
Dancehall ace KRG The Don Wednesday night
celebrated his birthday at a lavish affair held at the Pan Pacific rooftop
terrace at Nairobi's swanky GTC Towers.
The
bombastic online personality and dancehall star, who just turned 33, used the
occasion to also premier his new single - a collaboration with Jamaican
dancehall legend Konshens.
Dubbed a
listening-cum-birthday party, the night kicked off earnestly as his esteemed
guests started streaming in from as early as 7pm.
Seated on
gilded seats, at a venue pompously garlanded to fit the singer's fine taste,
guests were treated to alcoholic cocktails, pecorino sandwiches, prosciutto
flatbreads, beef bites, stuffed mushrooms, loaded cheese balls and lots of
cognac and fine whiskey.
Famously
known as a man of means and a showbiz showstopper, KRG used the opportunity to
bring together some of the wealthiest and most notable names across Nairobi's
social scene - from renowned celebrities to politicians, moneyed business
magnates, high-flying content creators and glamorous Instagram influencers.
Amongst a
rich repertoire of famous names sat Lang'ata MP Felix Odiwour alias Jalang'o,
former Starehe MP and musician Charles Jaguar, Kiambu-road multimillionaire Sam
K, philanthropist and politician Samuel Masaki and beauty guru Phoina Tosha.
Other guests
who made it to the party included: Bensoul, Mungai Eve, Butita, Terence
Creative, Milly Chebet, Austin Muigai, Nicki Bigfish, Carlos Xperience and more.
Keen to make
a memorable entrance, KRG walked into the venue ten minutes to 10pm, flanked by
his family members, as he walked over to every table, hugging and fist-bumping
every single guest, as the cheers drowned the sky.
The 'Mambo imechemka'
singer went on to exclusively preview his new song 'Time Bomb', a collaboration
with Jamaican star Konshens who spent the better part of his recent African
tour in Nairobi, at the behest of the Kenyan artist.
'Time Bomb',
whose music video was publicly released on Friday morning, is a typical party
anthem which sees both dancehall gurus sing about their love for the fine life
and even finer women.
Produced by
Jijo Drumbeats, the song sees Konshens employ his famous rhyming chants
specifically brought on board to deliver the bouncy coup de grace on KRG's
studio magic.
The music
video, too, is a vivid splash of fluorescent colors and buxom women as the two
stars take turns to deliver individual knockout performances before meeting up
towards the end - dressed in matching kaftan as they sing what must be
multimillion contracts.
