Kenyan rapper Kalasinga marks 1st anniversary professional debut
Debuting on March 8th with a catalog of archived tracks, Kalasinga has since carved a niche with his gritty, genre-defying sound, culminating in anticipation for his upcoming album Chafutone.
Kalasinga credits his growth to relentless discipline and consistency.
“As an upcoming artist, you hope doors open—and they did,” he shares. “With hard work, nothing’s impossible.
If it worked for me, it’ll work for anyone.”
His debut peaked at 21,200 monthly listeners, a testament to his raw lyricism and street-centric narratives.
The rapper highlights collaborations with producer Benjah Beats (of KCity fame) and mentor Clemmo as pivotal.
“Working with Benjah was a ‘biography in play’—he’s a genius,” Kalasinga says.
Benjah not only featured his music in the film KCity but also cast him in an acting role, broadening his creative horizons.
Kalasinga’s upcoming album Chafutone blends gritty trap, genge, and Afrofusion, promising a “street feel” he believes will redefine Kenyan hip-hop.
“Listeners will grasp its essence soon,” he teases. Manager Musa, who unlocked his talent, adds, “Kalasinga’s a lyrical genius destined for international stages. Trust the process.”
Beyond music, Kalasinga emphasizes mentorship’s role in his journey, shouting out Prestablogs for guiding his professionalism. He envisions Chafutone as a movement: “Empowering youth, fostering talent—this brand is about big things.”
With Musa’s strategic push and global ambitions, Kalasinga vows to elevate Kenyan hip-hop. “Chafu Moja to the world,” he declares. “Watch the space; legacy is brewing.”
