Jamaican reggae star Tarrus Riley lands in Kenya
Popular award-winning Jamaican reggae star Tarrus Riley has arrived
in Kenya ahead of his much anticipated performance in Naivasha this weekend.
Tarrus, who jetted in at around mid-morning on a Kenya
Airways flight, is returning to the country after a previous visit and guaranteed
Kenyans a great time at the Koroga Festival where he is set to grace the stage.
“Kenya remains dear
to my heart and career. My first visit to Africa was to Kenya and from then
till now I’ve grown such love for the people of Kenya and I thank the organizers
for deeming me fit to be the first non-African act to headline this festival,”
he said.
The Koroga Festival project director Farida Idris reiterated
that this 30th edition will be dedicated to President Uhuru Kenyatta
for his adoration of reggae music, and will also act as a send-off as he prepares
to exit office.
The festival begins on Thursday, and alongside the 'She's
royal' hitmaker will be a couple of Kenyan artists who will also grace the
stage.
These
include Mugithi artist Samidoh, Burukylyn Boyz, Otile Brown, Nviiri the
Storyteller, Kamanu and Gravitti Band, as well as DJs UV, Stretch, Joe Mfalme,
Slick Cobain and Lisney.
Coinciding with the 2022 World Rally
Championship (WRC), the festival will be making a comeback after a two year
break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
