J Blessing comes clean on Avril assault incident, says they have agreed to separate
Video director Jibril Blessing, better known
as J Blessing, has come out to clear the air on the assault claims made by his
lover Avril.
In a social media statement, J Blessing admitted
that he had an altercation with the songstress a year ago, and went ahead to
state that some of the photos she shared on Wednesday were from that incident and not
Tuesday night as she had been alluded to.
J Blessing revealed that following the said
fight from a year ago, where both of them were hurt, he personally took Avril
to hospital where she was treated for the injuries she sustained.
"I sincerely apologise for any harm I
have caused Avril or any other person. I am not innocent but I would like to
clarify a few things. About a year ago, we had a physical altercation where we
were both hurt, and on that day, I immediately took her to the hospital Aga
Khan. I take full responsibility for that moment of weakness. One of the
pictures she posted was from that incident,” J Blessing said.
He further stated that, despite getting into
another squabble with the singer on Tuesday night, it did not get physical.
He also disclosed that he and Avril had
jointly agreed to part ways in order to avoid such similar incidents in the
near future.
"Last night there was a situation that
led to an altercation, but it was not a beating as suggested. I want to assure
everyone that I did not beat her. I am not an abuser and I do not support
violence,” he wrote.
“I am a human being who has made mistakes in
my life. Avril and I have agreed that it is best for both of us to stay away
from each to prevent such incidents from happening again."
This comes after Avril had issued a statement
saying she has forgiven J Blessing for the alleged assault, and asked her fans
to forgive him too.
Avril also said that both she and J Blessing need
help to learn from their mistakes.
She had early sparked rage online when she
shared photos of herself with a bruised face, and accused J Blessing of
assault. She, however, later deleted the photos.
