'It will never be the same without you,' Entertainer Lil Maina mourns grandfather

Maina broke the heartbreaking news on Monday, saying his late grandfather, a prominent feature in his art, shaped him into the man he is today.

"I dont know what to say babu, I will always have you in my heart, it is not the same without you, it will never be," Maina wrote on Instagram. 

"The best grandfather to me and to everyone, thank you for making me who I am today, thank you for the support."

The online star, who moved to Nairobi circa 2018, and began living with his grandparents, also revealed that he was partially raised by his grandfather and expressed his grief at losing a pillar of his life.

"I never wanted to post anything about this but I thought it would be good for you guys to know," he added. 

The young entertainer and his grandfather had become somewhat of an internet sensation as a result of the numerous pranks that Maina had pulled.

During the pandemic, videos of Maina pranking his grandparents went viral, gaining him thousands of fans.

Aside from the skits and pranks, Maina, who also dabbles in content creation, became a household name with his hit single 'Kishash,' which received over 2 million views in just two weeks.
