Fast-rising stars Nakoche and Control Bwoy drop new music as record label promises musical explosion
The premier record label, whose reputation has been rising steadily over the past year, has now released a bunch of projects which are sure to dominate the 2024 musical charts and ultimately lead fans to the dance floor.
Two of the label's most notable signees - Nakoche Msela and Control Bwoy - have already shaken up the industry with several releases perfectly calculated to steer the
year and set the tone for the label's 2024 musical objectives.
Control Bwoy, CMG Records' in-house singer and songwriter, is riding high with the seismic 'Charm' - an ode to a woman his heart yearns for, done beautifully and with a rhythm which captures the heart and steals your soul.
As he sings in his signature tone, Control Bwoy quickly pulls you into a sultry soundscape, peppered with the undeniable magnetism of his flow and fire.
On 'Charm', he croons in beautiful Swahili, radiating with palpable energy as his pleading and prodding morphs into a flirtatious praise of his woman, who she credits with 'charming' up his life.
Besides 'Charm', the noteworthy star-in-the-making also delves deep into his mother tongue, releasing 'Nyamwalo', once again, proving that he can easily - and confidently - blend genres in his orbit, segueing from romantic deep cuts to emotional vernacular odes about marital wrangles and heartbreak.
"It's just my attempt to show my versatility," Control Bwoy says. "I believe in remaining authentic to yourself and your sound. I also believe that music always communicates and it doesn't matter how it has been done or what language has been used."
On his part, Nakoche's Extended Play (EP) arrives laden with clear, astute spiritual messages which veer from worshipy to jumpy to deeply ecclesiastic.
In this particular attempt, Nakoche experiments with more sounds and cadences, bringing out a fresh gospel vibe aimed at appealing to the older masses while at the same time galvanising younger audiences.
On 'Mwisho', Nakoche gets vulnerable, singing about the innate foibles of man, his incorigible shortcomings and the destructive human battles towards each other.
Preaching love, reconciliation and understanding, 'Mwisho' is a driving gospel banger which fuses zouk and R&B while managing to remain, at its very core, a confronting call for purity and righteousness.
The new 'EP' contains three songs - 'Umenifikisha', 'Njia' and 'Mwisho'.
On 'Njia', a high-energy bop, Nakoche pleads with the Lord for an opening - for success, for spiritual awakening and for the deliverance of His people.
The new EP was launched with much pop and glory on Citizen TV's 'Level Up Fridays' on May, 31 as the singer performed each song alongside presenter Bensu.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Nakoche explained his excitement at the project, adding that it had all been made possible by the grace of God and his label's faith in him.
"I'm thrilled at the project and happy at the work we've managed to put out," he said.
"Of course, God takes all the glory. But I also wish to thank my management and my team at CMG Records for the actualization of this dream. It has been a long time coming."
As the new month begins, CMG Records has continued to push the envelope and spur it's own artists to greater heights - promising to drop more material and even embark on a tour soon.
"This is just the beginning of a very busy schedule ahead," Loice Mwangi, the CMG Records manager said.
"We've invested alot in our artistry, our sound, our look and our presentation. We're happy with the support the label boss has accorded us and I'm happy to announce that the team is set for the stars!"
All the new songs are available on the particular artist's individual YouTube channels as well as easily available on the official CMG Records social pages.
