'DCI did not mistreat me,' Pastor Munishi says amid beef with Pastor Ng'ang'a

Veteran Tanzanian singer Faustin Munishi, popularly known as Pastor Munishi, has refuted claims that officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) mishandled him when he was summoned to record a statement over his fallout with Pastor James Ng'ang'a of Neno Evangelism Centre.

In a social media post, Munishi narrated his experience at the DCI offices in Ngong, where he was called to following a complaint filed by Pastor Ng'ang'a.

"DCI did not mistreat or mishandle me. Claims by some people that I looked beaten and tired are not true. The DCI were very kind to me, they handled me very well and we had a good chat about Pastor Ng'ang'a," Munishi said.

Munishi and Ng'ang'a, old friends turned foes, have been trading accusations against each other on social media.

Many times Munishi has christened himself Ng'ang'a's spiritual father, narrating how he met him in Mombasa and introduced him to salvation, and taught him how to preach.

Munishi claims Ng'ang'a started well but along the way he fell off and became cunning, and mixed the gospel with 'worldly ventures'.

At some point, Munishi questioned how Ng' ang'a acquired the piece of land where his massive Neno Evangelism Centre church sits along Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi.

Recently, Munishi mocked Ng'ang'a that he does not know how to play guitar or sing, but his gullible followers think he is an expert.

At some point Ng'ang'a, while preaching, told off Munishi, saying he should leave him alone.

This push and pull might have prompted Ng'ang'a to seek legal means to tame Munishi from further chiding him.

"DCI asked me what problems I have with Pastor Ng'ang'a. I told them I have no problem at all with Ng'ang'a, only that he is a public figure who shares his preachings on social media and as one of his followers, I criticise him whenever I feel he is lying," Munishi said.

"They told me since we are both preachers we should just find a way of solving our differences for the sake of the gospel. I agreed with them because what they said is very true," Munishi added.

He revealed that he is set to meet with Ng'ang'a to iron out their differences after the intervention of the DCI, probably on Monday.

Munishi is a veteran Tanzanian singer who moved and settled in Kenya, and is one of the biggest critics of the Tanzanian government.

He lives in Ngong, Kajiado county.
