Boyz II Men event organizer apologises for 'frustrations' experienced by concertgoers
The events company behind 'Yetu Festival' said in a statement that it had "taken note of feedback" from concertgoers via various mediums.
"We would like to address the concerns and frustrations expressed especially regarding the sound quality in the General Arena at our recent concert and the other concerns raised," the events company said.
"First and foremost, we want to acknowledge the incredible experience we shared together last year. The overwhelming success of that concert motivated us to curate and bring an even more remarkable event this year."
Following the outcry, the Consumers Federation of Kenya (COFEK) invited formal complaints saying it had received reports from concertgoers who said the event did not live up to their expectations, going by ticket prices.
Tickets to the event were retailing at Ksh.30,000 for VVIP, Ksh.15,000 for VIP, and Ksh.8,000 for regular tickets.
According to Radio Africa Events, its team has been investigating the sound problem in order to ensure that future events are fail-safe.
"We have engaged experienced sound engineers and technical experts to analyse the situation thoroughly," the statement explained.
"We are committed to rectifying these issues and ensuring that all future concerts deliver the exceptional audio and layout experience you deserve."
Shortly after the event last Saturday, many of the concertgoers who had paid Ksh.8,000 took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the event.
While some protested the sound quality, others were seen in a now-viral video shouting after the screen from which they were watching the concert went blank.
