Former Grandpa Records boss Refigah Heviweit has heaped praise
on multiple award-winning singer Bien Aime-Baraza, intimating that the former
Sauti Sol lead vocalist is the most visible ad hardworking Kenyan musician at present.
This comes as Bien on Wednesday added yet another feather to
his cap, beating out regional music heavyweights to be crowned the ‘Best Artist
in East Africa’ at the 2025 Trace Awards held in Zanzibar on Wednesday night.
According to Refigah, this just continues t prove Bien’s
mettle and musical influence, that he says can only continue to grow as he keeps
flying the country’s flag higher.
“Bien is a one-man army…he’s the only one making sense to me
in the music industry (now), followed by Risan Romeo who's coming up so well,"
stated the music veteran.
Bien has had a fairly successful musical run over the past
couple of years since the Sauti Sol band members went their separate ways and
each launched their own solo careers.
Last year, he dethroned popular rap trio Wakadinali as the
most streamed Kenyan artist on global digital music platform Spotify.
Bien, however, did not stop his dominance there. The self-proclaimed
‘Man a bald man’ also had four songs in the top 10 streamed Kenyan tracks on
the Spotify Wrapped 2024 list.
