Peter Salasya: Mixing leadership, fun, and service in Mumias East's festive season
Salasya, known for his vibrant personality and outspoken demeanour, is dedicated to making Mumias East residents' holiday seasons unforgettable.
“I have many plans for my constituents. We’re organizing activities like sports tournaments to bring together the elderly and the youth, fostering community integration during this festive season,” Salasya shared.
Additionally, he emphasised his commitment to assisting vulnerable groups in his community.
“We’re providing foodstuffs to my constituents, with particular attention to people living with disabilities. Through the PK Salasya Foundation, we’ll be gifting wheelchairs to those in need,” he revealed.
Salasya's dedication to community spirit extends to the much-anticipated New Year's Eve festivities, where he will serve as the MC for a lively crossover event.
Locals are expected to gather and ring in 2025 together. “We’ll all celebrate as we bid farewell to 2024,” he promised.
While many people spend the holidays with their families, Salasya embraces his role as a public servant by prioritising his constituents' happiness and well-being.
“Seeing my people happy gives me immense satisfaction. I have an extensive list of activities planned, and I’m deeply committed to their success,” he said.
The MP also tackled misconceptions about leaders having personal lives. “I enjoy partying because it’s good to have fun.
People think being an MP means I can’t enjoy myself, but I’m human too. Once you understand yourself, you can navigate anything,” Salasya stated.
Salasya remains committed to his mission of service, balancing his love of clubbing, worship, and occasional solitude with his responsibilities. “At the end of the day, I have an assignment to deliver,” he affirmed.
In an interview with Citizen Digital, Salasya also reflected on the unique challenges politicians face. Describing politicians as “funny creatures,” he criticized the self-serving tendencies often observed in leadership.
“I will never stop standing for the truth,” he declared, recounting his support for the Gen Z protests where his car was damaged. “We could have lost our lives, but I’m a young person, and someone like me wouldn’t have been elected if I didn’t fight for my beliefs,” he recalled.
Salasya concluded with a powerful message for leaders and citizens alike.
He encouraged Kenyans to hold their leaders accountable and reminded his colleagues of their responsibility to serve with integrity. “Let’s remember the people who gave us the platform we stand on. A true leader should uplift, not suppress, their people,” he said.
