Kipchoge shares Old Trafford experience, addresses Olympics outcome
At 39 years of age, Kenyan marathon legend Eliud
Kipchoge is still raring for the next challenge.
Kipchoge is considered the greatest marathoner of all time – having challenged what was believed to be physically impossible when he ran a 42.1km distance in under 2 hours in 2019.
A determined Kipchoge achieved an extraordinary milestone by becoming the first man to complete that distance, clocking 1:59:40 in Vienna.
Just recently, the whole world waited with abated breath as Kipchoge lined up for yet another challenge at the Paris Olympics.
The race, however, ended with a disappointment for Kipchoge who did not finish the race. But that has not taken away his resolve and achievements on the track.
Kipchoge recently visited Old Trafford and spent a day at Carrington to see their facilities, watch training and speak with the coaching staff. He attended the Reds’ Premier League match against Liverpool.
“The environment in Carrington is very beautiful. I had a chance to see and mix with the footballers, how they train and I got a lot. Later I joined others to watch the game between Manchester United and Liverpool,” he told Citizen Digital.
"It (Paris Olympics ) was a just bad day in office for me that day. I got unexpected results, but it not the end of life.
"I am here now to do other things. It is not enough to be where you are, everyday you keep pushing," said Kipchoge.
Kipchoge was speaking at a cancer event dubbed Be Bold meant to create awareness and support children who suffer from cancer.
