Bancy Musembi: A marketer's path to setting up solar power business
With the lockdown in Nairobi and its environs, Musembi was confined to her home in upcountry, from where she did online jobs to make ends meet.
But one day a massive power outage struck her area, leaving residents in the dark for over two weeks as the country's power supplier took their time to fix the issue.
This immensely affected Musembi's work. She could not deliver on deadlines as she needed power to work online.
Frustrated, an idea came to her to start a solar business that would light up the area and help residents address the persistent blackouts.
When the lockdown was lifted, Musembi learnt about Power Management and opened a solar company whose core business was to connect people to solar power.
In a sit-down with Citizen Digital, she narrated how her business picked up and how she has managed to transform her community through solar connectivity, and is now spreading across the country.
