Around Africa on Motorcycle: Kenyan riders finally arrive in Angola

A team of six Kenyans on a mission to travel around the African coastline have finally arrived in Angola – on their giant bikes.

The team crossed into Angola from Zambia – crossing the redline in Zambia and into this Southern African country.

And after over four months on the road – in a raving adventure for a good course – one can tell that the ride is not a cakewalk.

The team has withered a wide range of challenges; ranging from mechanical breakdowns – an injury to one of the team members – rain, cold, sun and more sun.

The riders left Kenya on December 12, 2024 – in a six-months long sojourn aimed at raising funds to help keep over 500 students in school.

The riders are looking to touch the four extreme points of Africa—the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western parts of the continent—on motorbikes. And they are doing a good job – even sending shout-outs to some of the students benefitting from the Fund — from thousands of kilometers away from home.

The Angola experience was nothing short of breathtaking — with Citizen Digital helping to tell their inspiring story of passion and love for the Kenyan child.

The team has already visited Ethiopia, Djibouti, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, and South Africa – but is expected to reach other Africa countries dotting the African Coastline.

The trip aims to raise funds to establish the LOGOS Educational Endowment Fund to support 500 students in different high schools in Kenya.

“It’s wonderful. Our team has crossed from Namibia into Angola, where they speak, I think largely Portuguese, a foreign language, of course not far from Spanish; some words are similar. Let’s see how it goes, but so far so good, wonderful reception and looking forward to the real adventure,” said Havana, one of the Kenyan riders.

The highlight of the trip will be reaching the 4 extreme points of the African continent, through Al-Ghīrān Point, near Al-Abyaḍ Point (Cape Blanc), Tunisia, Cape Agulhas, South Africa, Eastern: Xaafuun (Hafun) Point, near Cape Gwardafuy (Guardafui), Somalia, Western: Almadi Point (Pointe des Almadies), on Cape Verde (Cap Vert) and Senegal.

“The LOGOS Scholarship Fund goes beyond academic performance and focuses on mentorship, character formation, empowerment and holistic transformation as it aims to educate students for Life and Eternity,” says Pastor Nick Korir of Nairobi Chapel – which established the Fund in 2008.

According to Pastor Nick, the trip also aims to celebrate different personal life milestones of the Core Riders who will be on the road for six months.
