Three Kenyan firms named among 100 global tech pioneers
Three Kenyan
firms have been named among 100 companies viewed as global technology pioneers
by the World Economic Forum-WEF.
The
three include Access Afya, Pula Advisors and Sendy and makeup about three-quarters of the five African representatives on the tech pioneers list.
Founded
in 2012, Access Afya is a healthcare enterprise providing localised health
care, designed to serve low-income populations.
Meanwhile,
Pula Advisors is an agricultural insurance and technology company that designs
and delivers agricultural insurance and digital products to smallholder farmers
with the goal of de-risking agricultural investments.
Sendy
is an e-commerce and e-logistics platform which mainly builds fulfilment
infrastructure for e-commerce and consumer brands.
The
inclusion of the three mirrors the increasing allure of local companies on the
global stage.
Earlier
this month, the Financial Times named nine Kenyan businesses among 75 fastest growing
companies in Africa.
The
nine include Soko Watch, Flocash, Lori Systems, Quickmart, Copia, ASA Kenya,
East African Business Company, Mkopa and Impax.
