Paul Ngugi appointed new Geothermal Development Company boss

Chirchir has appointed Paul Ngugi as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of
the Geothermal Development Company (GDC).
Eng. Ngugi now comes in to replace former CEO
Jared Othieno whose term at the State agency ended on April 18, 2023.
He assumes office immediately in the
government owned corporation which is tasked with developing steam fields and
selling geothermal steam for electricity generation to the Kenya Electricity
Generating Company PLC (KenGen) and private investors.
The former GDC Business Development General
Manager emerged top out of 15 candidates who were interviewed to occupy the
office on a three-year-term.
Ngugi, who has a 25-year wealth of experience
in the geothermal sector, was a long serving drilling Engineer at KenGen as the
head of Geothermal Planning at Olkaria.
He later moved to GDC in 2009 to the position
of General Manager Business Development in charge of Corporate Strategy,
Planning and Fundraising.
