Nyeri’s Mountain lodge seeks new tenant

The management of Nyeri-based Mountain Lodge is
seeking a new tenant following last year’s departure of the Serena Hotels.
The Mountain Lodges Limited (MLL) board of
directors has invited proposals for management companies or operators to lease
or manage the property located at Kabaru.
The board is expected to close the bidding
process for the facility on November 17.
The Mountain Lodge was left vacant early last
year when the Serena Hotels ended a 22-year partnership with the establishment.
Presently, the lodge is under the stewardship of
an interim manager.
The government of Kenya is the facility’s
majority shareholder through the Kenya Tourism Finance Corporation (TFC).
Mountain Lodge is among a number of hospitality
establishment under strain within Nyeri County in a list that includes the
Outspan Hotel which was recently put for sale and the Treetops Hotel.
The Mountain Lodge is located within the Mt.
Kenya National Park and lies on the slopes of the mountain.
The facility comprises of 41 rooms and conference
facilities.
