Nairobi to host continental air cargo exhibition
The high-profile gathering set to be held at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi will unite global and regional stakeholders to explore the latest innovations in airfreight and multi-modal transport solutions.
Air Cargo Africa 2025 will feature over 60 exhibitors and 2,000 professionals, including logistics giants like Swissport, Emirates SkyCargo, Qatar Cargo, and MSC, as well as African leaders such as Kenya Airways Cargo and Ethiopian Airlines. Global participation includes a German Pavilion and exhibitors from China, emphasizing East Africa’s role as a critical logistics gateway.
The event will feature a full-day session on February 21 dedicated to health and humanitarian logistics, curated by the Health and Humanitarian Logistics Association. On February 20, the industry’s best will be celebrated at an exclusive awards ceremony hosted by Stat Media.
East Africa’s strategic position and Kenya’s robust infrastructure, including the Nairobi Inland Container Depot, Lamu Port, and the Mombasa-Nairobi High-Speed Rail, position the region as a logistics hub.
“Air Cargo Africa is coming home, Nairobi underscores Africa’s role in driving global airfreight innovation,” said Dick Murianki, Director of Kenya Airways Cargo.
Africa’s air cargo industry is experiencing unprecedented growth, driven by increasing demand for fresh produce, pharmaceuticals, and speciality goods.
Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport handled 112,000 tons of cargo in Q1 2024, cementing its status as one of Africa's top cargo hubs alongside Addis Ababa and Johannesburg. Outbound air cargo from Africa recorded a 6% year-on-year growth in 2024, with special cargo, including horticulture, coffee, and seafood, comprising 80% of exports.
