Kenya's exports to EU drop to Ksh.38 billion
Kenya's earnings from exports to the European Union (EU)
dropped slightly to Ksh.38 billion in the third quarter of 2024, down from Ksh.38.8
billion in the same period in 2023.
According to data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics
(KNBS), the decline was attributed to reduced domestic exports of cut flowers
and lower re-exports of kerosene-type jet fuel to the Netherlands.
In turn, the value of goods imported from the EU fell from Ksh.56.79
billion in Q2 2024 to Ksh.54.6 billion in the quarter under review.
Overall exports from Kenya in Q3 2024 were valued at Ksh.282.4
billion compared to Ksh.275.74 billion in Q2 2024, a 2.4% improvement.
Despite a decline in imports from Africa and America, Kenya's
trade activity remains robust, underscoring its evolving position in global
markets.
