Kenya Airways to begin Mombasa-Dubai direct flights next month
National carrier Kenya Airways (KQ) is set to
start direct flights between Mombasa and Dubai on December 15, 2022.
KQ is set to operate the flight four times a
week on its Boeing 737-800 craft.
The carrier says the introduction of the
route is in response to demand from the market.
Direct flights between Mombasa and Dubai are
expected to give the coastal City direct access to the Middle Eastern market.
“The introduction of this route is key and
strategic as it will open up the Kenyan coastal region, boost the tourism and
hospitality industry as well as stimulate trade to the coastal City,” said
Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer Julius Thairu.
The flight is set to originate from Nairobi
and will serve to increase KQ’s frequencies to Dubai to 14-times per week.
KQ will fly out of Mombasa on Monday,
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and make return trips from Dubai on Tuesday,
Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Apart from tourism and hospitality, the new
flights are set to benefit traders will belly cargo capacity being available on
the flight.
