Jeremy Awori lands Ecobank CEO role after Absa exit
His appointment comes just days after Absa Bank Kenya announced his departure after nearly 10 years at the helm of the lender.
Awori is set to replace Ade Ayeyemi at the helm of the Pan-African bank who has attained the retirement age of 60.
"It is a great honor to be appointed Ecobank Group Chief Executive Officer. I look forward to consolidating the transformation of Ecobank," Jeremy Awori said.
Awori brings on board experience from over 20 years in the banking industry having started out his career at Standard Chartered in 1999.
Before joining Absa in 2013, Awori held multiple leadership roles at Standard Chartered Bank across Middle East and Africa including serving as the CEO of the lender in its Tanzania unit.
Last week, Absa Bank Kenya Plc Board indicated it had kicked-off the recruitment process to replace its long-serving CEO.
