Gov’t says mining industry has potential to contribute up to 10% of Kenya’s GDP
The
government projects that the mining industry has the potential to contribute up
to 10% of the country's GDP.

Principal Secretary Abubakar Hassan said this on Monday during the opening of
the Kenya Mining Week conference, which serves as a catalyst to foster these
projections.
“The
government of Kenya recognises the pivotal role mining places. The mining
sector has the potential of contributing 10% to the Country's GDP a vision we
aim to bring to reality by supporting the private sector by sustainability of
our country,” Hassan said.
Over
the next three days industry experts, government officials, and geoscientists
will convene to explore the opportunities and strategies that will unlock the
mining sector's full potential through seeking new ways of value addition in
the minerals.
The attendees
will have the opportunity to explore investment opportunities, discuss policy
frameworks, and foster partnerships to drive sustainable development in the
mining sector.
