Family Bank announces death of Chairman Francis Gitau

In a statement to the media on Tuesday, Family Bank said Mungai who served the Board of Family Bank Limited since 2016 died while undergoing treatment in the United States. 

He was until his demise served as the Lender's Vice Chairman for the last two years before his recent appointment as Chairman. 

"He chaired the Board Credit Committee and the Board Human Resources Committee," the Family Bank board said in a statement to the media.

"He was a member of the Nominations and Governance Committee and a director of Pesa Pap Digital Ltd, a subsidiary of Family Bank Ltd."

Before beginning his stint with the lender in 1996, Mungai had supported the Bank both as a customer and as an Architect according to the board, and during his employ, made invaluable contributions to the growth of the Bank. 

"He will be missed immensely by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him," the statement by the boards notes.
