Eastleigh's Business Bay mall takes shape ahead of official opening
The Business Bay Square mall sits on 6.4 acres of land and has over 2000 retail outlets.
The Ksh.25 billion mega mall, which has been under construction for the last 4 years is complete and operational. The mall currently has an occupancy rate of over 90%, 2 months before the official commissioning.
“Right now all the upper floors are filled we are waiting for clients to finish setting up on the lower floors ahead of the launch in October. This was the next step in the evolution of Malls in the country,” Dalmar Abdi says.
Aside from the normal great deals that are associated with business in Eastleigh the mall will also feature high end stores, catering for all shoppers at both ends of the spectrum. The facility will also have 12 banks, 3 hospitals, a gold market and a mosque that has a capacity of 2500 worshipers.
Some retail stores have already started operations ahead of the official commissioning. Retailers say the customer numbers are already overwhelming for the limited outlets that are open.
Aside from attracting businesses, it is estimated that Eastleigh hosts investments worth billions of and contributes at least 30 per cent of taxes collected by Nairobi County.
