Belgium airline to resume direct flights between Brussels and Nairobi, Murkomen announces

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has announced the resumption of direct flights between Brussels and Nairobi, by Brussels Airlines.

According to Murkomen, the flights set to resume on June 3, 2024, will see the Belgian airline fly six times a week from Brussels to Nairobi.

“This monumental step is set to create direct and indirect jobs for Kenya's aviation sector workforce, improve trade and investment, increase the number of tourist arrivals into the country and boost Kenya's economy.,” said the CS on Wednesday.

The deal came following a meeting between Murkomen and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Kenya Peter Maddens and the Lufthansa Group General Manager for East Africa Mr. Kevin Markette. The two had paid the CS a courtesy call in his office.

Also present was Roads PS Joseph Mbugua.
